Your clothes will stay fresh with these Washing Machines
Gone are the days of saving quarters and lugging my bags of laundry to the laundromat. I'm finally buying a brand-new washing machine -- all for me, myself and I. Yep, I’m adulting now. And while I'm in the upgrading-my-life mode, I decided that I may as well choose the best washing machine possible.
So that has led me on a mission to find the washing machine of my dreams (_I would love to get the Samsung Azure blue front loader that I saw recently on HGTV{target="blank"}. But pretty sure it’s not in my budget.) So, I'm starting with some much-needed research to find expert insight and advice. Here’s what I learned about how to choose the best washing machine for your laundry needs:
The considerations
Keep in mind that the washing machine of my dreams may not be the one of yours. However, there are a few tricks to choosing the right washing machine for your home, including your personal laundry needs, a shortlist of must-have features and energy efficient preferences. Additionally, you might prefer some washing machine styles over others. For instance, stackable washer-dryer combos make sense for certain spaces, but some people are partial to the top-loading washing machines that aren't available in stackable form. Once you narrow down your options, choosing the best washing machine will become a far less daunting endeavor.
The best washing machines
After conducting more than 100 hours of research, WireCutter concludes that the LG WM3770HWA is the washing machine that would win the popularity contest for most homeowners. This LG model won based on the company's reputation for reliability, as well as the machine's quick cycle times and superior cleaning performance. Digital Trends also named the LG WM3770HWA Turbowash one of the best washing machines available, highlighting its smart features, high capacity and impressively fast cycles as reasons for the shining review.
If you'd rather have a top-load washing machine, CNET named the Kenmore Elite 31633 as a prime choice. For a few hundred dollars less, you can get the Kenmore 22352, which CNET called the "best no-frills washing machine."
According to The Spruce, the best overall front-loading washing machine is the Samsung AddWash WF6500, while the Whirlpool High-Efficiency Washer gets the win for top-load models. If you want a stackable machine, The Spruce highlights the Samsung 4.2 Cu. Ft. High-Efficiency as a superior option. Other top-tier options, according to the experts at Good Housekeeping, include the Electrolux Front Load Perfect Steam Washer, Samsung FlexWash and the GE 3.9 Cu. Ft. DOE Washer.
The upkeep
Remember that while these washing machines are all good choices, you'll still need to perform regular appliance maintenance to extend the machine's life and efficiency. It helps to be familiar with common washer and dryer problems so you can help to avoid a laundry crisis. Plus, don't forget that cleaning your washing machine is a thing you should do at least four times a year. (I know, hard to believe, but you do have to clean your washing machine!)
