About 5,100 outdoor playsets made by Backyard Play Systems have been recalled due to an entrapment hazard. Children can become trapped in the gap between the lower part of the roof and the bottom of the roof gable decoration.

According to the Nov. 4 recall alert published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, this recall affects the Turbo Racer, Cloud Racer, Captain’s Fort and Fort Highlander outdoor playsets, all of which have a wooden roof.

The playsets were manufactured in China and sold online at Costco.com between March 2019 and May 2021, and at Lowes.com between December 2020 and May 2021, for about $1,000 each.

The CPSC is telling consumers to stop using these playsets immediately. Contact Backyard Play Systems for a free repair kit, which includes replacement parts, hardware and instructions. If you can’t or don’t want to repair it yourself, the Monroe, Mich.-based company will send a representative to make repairs for you.
