Watch your hands: Target has recalled about 174,300 decorative metal mailboxes because the letter slot may be sharp, posing a risk of laceration. Target is offering refunds if you return the product. Here’s what to know and how to get yours.

The Dec. 10 recall announcement said there have been nine reports of sharp mail slots. Seven laceration incidents have been reported, three of which required medical attention.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said the mailboxes — called “Letters to Santa Mailboxes” — were sold between October 2021 and November 2021 in single packs and two-packs. The affected model numbers are 234-17-8556 (single pack) and 234-20-9275 (two-pack). The pieces were made in China, and sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com.

You should stop using the recalled product immediately. Return the item to any Target store for a full refund in the form of a store gift card.
