According to the Oct. 28 recall alert, the surface paint on the furniture pieces contains levels of lead that exceed amounts allowed under the federal lead paint ban. This poses a risk of lead poisoning. The CPSC says lead is toxic if ingested by young children, and it can cause adverse health effects.

Design Within Reach of Stamford, Conn., has not received reports of injuries related to this recall.

This recall involves chairs, barstools and tables in the Arc Collection of furniture. To check if your piece falls under this recall, check the white label on the product against this list of affected stock keeping unit, or SKU, codes.

The pieces were manufactured in Mexico and sold at Design Within Reach studios and outlets nationwide, as well as online at DWR.com and Ebay.com between April 2021 and July 2021 for $270 to $500.

If you own a recalled piece, you should stop using it and contact Design Within Reach for instructions on how to return the product to receive a full refund. The company is contacting all known purchasers directly.
